One Direction Destroy Us With Nostalgia in ‘History’ Video

One Direction is taking a well-deserved hiatus in 2016, but they haven’t left the spotlight (or our hearts) quite yet. And they’ve served up a strong, bittersweet cup of nostalgia with a video for “History” today (January 26).

The clip intercuts a good old fashioned serenade from Niall, Louis, Harry and Liam with footage harkening all the way back to their awkward, swoopy-banged beginnings on X Factor. The boys cavort, cuddle (Zayn and Niall! Louis and a koala! unghghghgh) and revel in the “hotel rooms and new tattoos” that came with their rising fame.

After a montage that’s as devastating as it is uplifting, the foursome literally part ways, walking away in separate directions — and we can’t wait to see where they’ll go.

Watch the clip below, and share your favorite 1D memory in the comments!
