British singer Jake Bugg has an inexplicable bone to pick with fellow U.K. natives One Direction, and it's not sitting well with the boys.

Bugg, who was nominated for a 2013 BRIT Award for Best Breakthrough British Act, lashed out at 1D in an interview, completely unprovoked.

"People [call them the new Beatles] because they broke America, but that don't mean a thing. I mean, [One Direction] must know that they're terrible," Bugg told Shortlist (via Entertainment Wise).

"They must know ... calling them the new rock stars is a ridiculous statement," he added, "and people should stop making it. Who the f--- is saying [they're the closest thing to rock stars we have these days]? Oh, I'm pretty sure they have a good laugh. But it's easy to, isn't it? When you don't have to write any songs.”

Dang! Tell us how you really feel, Bugg. (And for the record, One Direction do have a hand in writing several tracks from 'Take Me Home,' so 18-year-old Bugg can have a seat and do some research.)

Speaking of his nomination and popularity, which doesn't extend too far beyond his own borders (again, have a seat, sir), Bugg said, "I guess it proves my point – people still want to hear guitar music. It's my job to keep that 'X Factor' s--- off the top of the charts."

Ooh, isn't he so hip and edgy? Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson didn't sit idly by and let Bugg stomp all over them  -- they took to Twitter to call him out on his nonsense.

Of course, there may be a reason Bugg is so bugged by 1D after all: he's rumored to be dating Cara Delevingne, who's a former flame of Harry Styles. Way to downgrade, girl.
