Here's some news that's sure to make some people happy and others very, very sad: The remaining One Direction boys will not replace Zayn Malik.

TMZ reports that the group is not entertaining thoughts of filling the space left by Zayn when he decided to leave the band. Sources connected to Simon Cowell told the site that there is "absolutely zero" talk of finding a replacement for Zayn.

Simon discovered the boy band on The X Factor UK and voiced his support for Zayn following his decision to leave the band. The Daily Star also reported that Simon predicted that the band would not stay together forever last year.

While many of the band's most ardent fans have not yet made peace with the idea that Zayn won't be returning to the fold, it seems like the remaining members have. TMZ reports that the boys still speak to Zayn regularly (phew!) and respect the choice he made - even if his departure did allegedly cost the band a lot of money.

Whether you're of the belief that the band would be so much better if it were a five-part unit again or you think that Zayn is irreplacable and that filling his spot would be unthinkable, you'll probably take comfort in this: The remaining four boy banders are powering through even in the wake of all this change. TMZ reports that they successfully played their first show without Zayn in South Africa and will go ahead with their Europe/US tour this summer.
