One of the songwriters behind One Direction's smash hit "What Makes You Beautiful" is "heartbroken" that the song was covered by YouTube group The Piano Guys during Donald Trump's inaugural concert (January 19) and ball (January 20).

Savan Kotecha is speaking out against the reportedly unauthorized use of the boy band's smash single by Trump's inauguration cover band.

"I wrote 'What Makes You Beautiful' for my wife," Kotecha told Billboard after he revealed on Twitter that The Piano Guys were "absolutely NOT given permission" to perform it.

"To me the song is about love, joy, and acceptance. The fact that it was used to celebrate a man who stands for divisiveness and bigotry breaks my heart," he added. "I am the son of immigrants. My children are biracial. A 'Trump America' makes me worried for their future."

Kotecha added that while he was "sure there is nothing [he] can do about the use of the song at the inauguration now," he felt the need "to express [his] disappointment."

On Friday, however, the successfulin-demand pop songwriter, who has written tracks for Ariana Grande ("Into You"), Demi Lovato ("Cool For the Summer") and The Weeknd ("Can't Feel My Face"), said that he is "looking into taking action."
