Oprah and Gayle Reportedly Feuding Over 50 Cent

How strange would it be if longtime BFFs Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King lost their friendship over rapper 50 Cent? That's the scenario painted by one publication, which says Oprah is upset that Gayle is falling for the rapper.

The gossip comes from the National Enquirer, which claims King and 50 Cent hit it off after meeting. "Sparks flew, so Gayle invited Fitty on her talk show," a source said. "It went really well, and the two quickly became Twitter buddies."

The paper says that Oprah doesn't approve of Gayle and 50 Cent getting chummy. The source added, "Oprah has been a longtime opponent of rap music that is violent and demeaning to women, and she considers Fitty to be one of the worst offenders. Oprah hates him! She thinks his lyrics are degrading to all women, and Oprah can’t for the life of her figure out why Gayle would fall for him.”

We're not sure how much credence to give this report, especially because the Enquirer gets at least one key detail wrong. The paper says that 50 met Gayle at Bette Midler's New York Restoration Project event earlier this year, but photos of the pair, including the one above, were taken back at the 2009 Restoration Project event.

Other outlets have confirmed some of the details of the story, including the fact that 50 and Gayle have been flirty on Twitter. When asked about her relationship with the rapper, Gayle herself wrote to one of her followers, "That was not flirting that was friendliness!"
