You could have heard a pin drop the moment Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty realized they'd mistakenly announced La La Land as Best Picture over Moonlight at the 2017 Oscars. And what the moment looked like might be even more damning.

This morning (February 27), the Los Angeles Times posted a photo documenting the moment the celeb-studded audience realized Moonlight was actually the Best Picture winner, and it's a doozy. Between Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's look of total disbelief, Matt Damon's shock and Michelle Williams' astonishment, you'd think Hillary Clinton was just named the retroactive winner of the 2016 election.

Pricewaterhouse Coopers, the accounting firm responsible for the presentation of Oscars, tried to explain the mistake by noting that every category has two awards cards printed for security reasons. Somehow, Beatty and Dunaway were handed a duplicate card announcing Emma Stone's win for Best Actress, which had already been delivered earlier in the show.

"The presenters had mistakenly been given the wrong category envelope and when discovered, was immediately corrected,” a statement read. “We are currently investigating how this could have happened, and deeply regret that this occurred. We appreciate the grace with which the nominees, the Academy, and Jimmy Kimmel handled the situation.”
