With Cee Lo Green bouncing and Usher appearing on a rotating, every-other-season basis, 'The Voice' had a big red chair vacancy it needed to fill. Who is the new coach for Season 7? None other than Pharrell Williams!

Williams is thermonuclear right now, with 'Blurred Lines' and 'Get Lucky,' his hits with Robin Thicke and Daft Punk, respectively, as well as his own Oscar-nominated smash 'Happy.'

Joining the show as a coach will certainly give the series, which is already a ratings juggernaut, a boost, and further put Williams on the mainstream radar.

It will also be the show's seventh season, which should air in the fall of 2014, and the show could certainly use another transfusion of fresh musical blood coursing through its singing competition veins.

The official tweet confirming Williams appointment to the big red chair is below.

Season 6 is currently moving full steam ahead, with Usher having taken over for Cee Lo again and Shakira once again taking over for Christina Aguilera, who is expecting her second child -- a baby girl -- this year. That could present a wrinkle for producers, and it could mean that Shak will be back for Season 7. Or there might be another coach on the horizon to fill in for Xtina, given her baby news.

Coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton have never taken a season off… yet!

Congrats to Pharrell on his new role as a coach on Season 7 of 'The Voice.' This means he will have to have a red mountie hat custom-created for his new gig!
