Phillip Phillips Announces Engagement to Girlfriend Hannah Blackwell

Congratulations are in order for 'American Idol' winner Phillip Phillips, who on Dec. 26, announced that he is now engaged to his longtime girlfriend Hannah Blackwell.

"My best Christmas surprise is happening. We're engaged yall!" the 26-year-old singer tweeted to fans.

Blackwell later shared a photo of Instagram of her new engagement ring with the caption: "I've been dreaming of this for over 20 years. I've been dreaming of this guy for just that long. Overwhelmed with happiness."

According to Us Weekly, Phillips and Blackwell met when they were 18 while doing volunteer work. The two have been dating ever since.

The engagement caps off a big year for Phillips, who released his second studio album, 'Behind the Light,' on May 16, 2014.
