Congratulations are in order! Pippa Middleton and her husband James Matthews welcomed their first child on Monday (October 15). The baby, a healthy 8 lb. 9 oz. boy, was born at 1:58 p.m. local time. The couple kept the details of the pregnancy mostly under wraps, including the baby's expected due date. They have yet to issue an official announcement, but the Daily Mail's royal correspondent confirmed the birth on Twitter.

"George, Charlotte and Louis have a new cousin! James and Pippa Matthews (Middleton) have had a baby boy," Rebecca English tweeted Tuesday (October 16). "He was born Monday 15th October at 1.58pm, weighing 8lb and 9oz. Everyone is delighted and mother and baby are doing well.”

Following in the footsteps of her royal older sister, Middleton gave birth in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington, West London — the same place where Princess Kate and Prince William welcomed all three of their children. The new baby isn't exactly a royal, but he'll surely be surrounded by loving family members, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Middleton confirmed her pregnancy in a June column for the UK supermarket monthly Waitrose magazine. She also documented how she stayed active during her pregnancy in an ongoing fitness column for the magazine.
