Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson to Return for ‘Pitch Perfect 3′

Someone really felt the need to turn Pitch Perfect into a trilogy. Pitch Perfect 2 isn't out of theaters yet, but that didn't stop Universal from officially confirming that a third installment of the movie was officially in the works. And while the third film was hinted at a few weeks ago by Rebel Wilson, it came with few details, if any. Thankfully, both Wilson and Anna Kendrick have since confirmed that they'll be back with the Bellas when the movie is released in 2017.

Do you see what we did there? Yes, we slipped in a tiny nugget of information regarding the eventual release date of Pitch Perfect 3. According to E! News, the a capella comedy will hit theaters in the summer of 2017 -- so it'll be a full two year wait before the Barden Bellas will make their triumphant return to the big screen. Again.

Kendrick posted a photo of herself on Twitter earlier today (June 15) with the caption, "Happening #3," which we're taking as absolute confirmation that she's signed on for Pitch Perfect 3. Rebel Wilson also tweeted about the news, writing, "I know I spilt the beans a little while ago, but at least now it's OFFICIAL!! PITCH PERFECT 3, July 21, 2017!!! Sing 'ahhhhh' on 3 pitches x"

Fans were pretty sure a Pitch Perfect 3 was eventually on its way when Wilson unofficially confirmed it to LA Times film reporter Amy Kaufman, who tweeted out the news. She wrote, "News: Rebel Wilson just told me there will be a 3rd @PitchPerfect and she recently signed on to be in it! (She doesn’t know abt Kendrick.)"

Fans can catch Pitch Perfect 3 when it hits theaters on July 21, 2017.
