Aaliyah in ‘Queen of the Damned’ – Pop Stars in Horror Movies

Before 'The Vampire Diaries' and 'Twilight' transformed blood suckers into trendy and oversexualized creatures, there was 'Queen of the Damned.' Starring the beautiful Aaliyah as Queen Akasha, the HBIC of the vamp world, 'Queen of the Damned' follows rock star nightwalker Lestat (Stuart Townshend) after he is awakened from a deep slumber and starts fronting a nu metal band. It's like 'Rock Star' meets 'True Blood,' and the combination is not a good recipe.

But it's always nice to reminisce about Aaliyah, who passed in 2001, the year before 'Queen of the Damned' was released. This film serves as another visual memory of the deceased singer... even if she's ripping dudes hearts out.
