Every week at PopCrush, we’re putting the spotlight on one up-and-coming act you need to know about. Why? So you can get on board early before everyone else and their mother jumps on the bandwagon…and so you can be that one friend in the group who’s always like, “Um, actually, I prefer their earlier work.”

Do your throwback-jam playlists typically include tons of female artists from the '70s and the '90s, with Joni Mitchell right alongside the Spice Girls? If so, you share musical taste with our latest PopCrush crush, FRANKIE — and chances are you'll love her songs, too.

FRANKIE is a 23-year-old Oakland native who currently calls Los Angeles home, and she released her debut Dreamstate EP on August 28. "Problems Problems," a candy-coated doo wop reflection on a cooling love affair, is the EP's second track. It's gained serious traction on Spotify, with over 1.4 million streams.

It's also made our own list of stuck-on-repeat favorites, and what bigger endorsement do you need?

EP opener "New Obsession" is her latest single, and she declares herself on the harmony-drenched bop, "I got the tricks if you want to lock lips, I got the moves if you want to come cruise / No I don't want to be your best your friend, Just let me be your new obsession."  FRANKIE lets the object of her affections — and by extension, the listener — know that she's here, she's focused, and she's ready to charm the hell out of us all.

You can grab FRANKIE's Dreamstate now, and stay tuned for more — her debut full-length is due out from RCA in 2016.
