Psy Not Interested in High Profile Collabo, Wants to Prove He’s Not a One Trick Pony

Fans who loved Psy‘s live collabo with M.C. Hammer shouldn’t expect the duo to go any further for his new song. In fact, don’t expect the K-Pop star to collaborate with anyone on his next track.

He is putting his mega smash ‘Gangnam Style’ to bed, retiring it since it got “too big,” but wants to prove that he can replicate his previous success without relying on someone else’s name or skill.

“I don’t think I’ll be doing any collaborations until my new track is done, and it’s not done yet, but I’m thinking of doing it by myself, so I can prove I can do it one more time,” Psy told MTV News. “And I’m working hard on it, because I’ve got to be good with the track and the video, and I’ve got to be able to perform it on the stage.”

There is a rumored collabo with Diplo and 2 Chainz but that won’t be Psy’s next U.S. single and the ‘Gangnam’ follow up.

Psy knows that all eyes and ears will be on his new single, since ‘Gangnam Style’ took on a life of its own, and was one of those songs that comes along just once a year, grabbing a billion views on YouTube.

Still, Psy remains undaunted and undeterred. He plans to be the poster boy for K-Pop, even though he doesn’t fit the typical archetype, saying, “If you look at K-Pop, it’s kind of popular around the world, but its known for some skinny boys and pretty girls. So I’m proud to be here without that skinny body! If I can do it, anybody can!”

Go Psy!
