Randy Jackson is reportedly in talks to manage Mariah Carey. The 'American Idol' judge and pop/R&B star have been longtime friends and collaborators.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jackson is negotiating a deal with the singer, whom he's known since the '90s. The music heavyweights have collaborated on and off the stage for years, with Jackson boasting production and writing credits on many of the star's recordings. Jackson's manager credits include Nikka Costa, Van Hunt and the band Paper Tongues.

Carey was previously signed to Violator Entertainment, which represents the likes of 50 Cent, LL Cool J and Soulja Boy. In September, the company merged with Primary Wave, which includes Cee Lo Green and Eric Benet on its roster.

Jackson was recently spotted on set with Carey when she shot her 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' video, for her reprised duet with Justin Bieber. THR adds that Jackson was seen days later at Carey’s label offices, and a source claimed Jackson is "very much in the mix."

In addition to being a manager and on-camera personality, Jackson is also a notable TV producer, radio show host, musician and entrepreneur. Carey counts Benny Medina and Louise McNail as past managers.
