Rihanna to Launch Clothing Line
Rihanna and clothes have a symbiotic relationship. She finds creativity in dressing all sexy, while the clothes, well, they look just fine on her. RiRi expressed the desire to work more deeply in the fashion world during her chat with Access Hollywood, where she revealed that she and bestie Katy Perry are working on a song. But she also shared more deets when chatting it up with Ryan Seacrest during his radio show.
According to Global Grind, Ri admitted, “I’m really pursuing a fashion line of my own. I want to design. This is also a road that I want to earn it. So I’m working with designers. Designers that I respect, and [fashion] companies that I respect. I want people to really trust me before I just say ‘Buy it, because it’s mine.’”
The singer has been honing her skills and talents by designing capsule collections for Emporio Armani for the past two seasons. She is the spokesmodel for the line – you’ve seen the latest super sexalicious clip, right? — so she’s been gaining experience in a hands-on fashion, no pun intended. We love her consumer-friendly attitude, too. She doesn’t want to slap her name on something and expect people to thrown down cash just ‘cuz.
Rihanna is also an avowed fashion risk taker. She has no fears and no boundaries and isn’t afraid to try risqué looks. She has evolved into a fashion daredevil on the same level as Lady Gaga, but in a totally different way. Whereas Gaga will wear raw beef and 10-inch neckbreaker platforms, RiRi is not afraid to show skin, to leave very little (if nothing) to the imagination and to experiment with color and shapes. The results are usually breathtaking.
While Ri-designed attire will likely be more ready-to-wear and more realway than runway, since she is looking to actually sell them to the average fan / woman and can’t make them too raunchy, the clothes will no doubt be edgy pieces that are fun for fellow fashionistas to play with. They will probably allow the buyer to mimic Ri’s unique style, which is the whole point of a celeb-derived fashion line.
Forget a song collabo — RiRi and Katy, who are both equally fashion game changers, should pair up for a clothing line. Couldn’t you just die at the thought?
