Rihanna to Star in Next ‘Fast and Furious’ Film
Rihanna plays a bada-- in 'Battleship,' which hits theaters this month. She is planning to continue exploring her film career and adding to her acting resume, as she has reportedly snagged the role of the villainess in the next edition of 'The Fast and the Furious' franchise.
In the sixth film, RiRi would play the bad girl. That's not a stretch, but since she is so early into this phase of her career, it's likely best that she doesn't stray too, too far from type. A source told The Sun that "writers think she’ll be perfect for the role. Her character has plenty of bite and doesn’t take any prisoners — just like her in real life."
The insider continued, “It’s a step up the ladder for her and could lead to bigger action roles.” The franchise is mega successful, having spawned a total of six films. The Bajan beauty could infuse the long-running film series with pop flavor and bring more fans into the multiplex to see her push the pedal to the floor.
The flicks are about fast cars, so Ri will play a bit of a gearhead alongside Vin Diesel and The Rock. The film will be shot in London, as well.
The big screen is agreeing with the singer, who expressed a desire to try her hand at comedy, too. She said: “I’ve always wanted to work with Seth [Rogen]. He is so funny. Even if he’s not in the film, all of his movies are funny. They’re the comedies I watch a thousand times, besides 'Borat' of course, and everything that Sacha Baron Cohen does."
Could you imagine RiRi pairing with Rogen or Cohen in a comedy? Bring it, girl. But for now, it's all about actioners.
