R&B superstars Rihanna and Usher both exploded into the top 10 of Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart this week thanks, in large part, to the Internet. Rihanna's sultry jam 'Birthday Cake' leaped from No. 17 to No. 7, while Usher's 'Climax' vaulted from No. 18 to No. 10.

'Birthday Cake' will be RiRi's ninth top 10 and her most controversial because it features her ex-beau Chris Brown. Every since it was announced that Brown would duet on the remix, fans' reactions have been mixed. In fact, the debate over the song got so heated that RiRi started feuding with a couple of people on Twitter.

While some critics were upset that Rihanna would record a song with the man who once abused her, the singer insists that Breezy was the perfect artist for the remix. “I reached out to him about doing ‘Birthday Cake’ because that’s the only person that really -- it made sense to do the record, just as a musician," she said. "Despite everything else, that was going to be the person. I thought about rappers, and I’ve done that so many times, and the hottest R&B artist out right now is Chris Brown."

Meanwhile, Usher's 'Climax' marks his quickest rise into the top 10 since his 2009 song 'Papers.' The crooner initially debuted the song online as a Valentine's Day gift for his fans. Since then, it's become a worldwide smash. Recently, Usher dropped a dramatic video for the Diplo-blessed song, which features him acting out different scenarios in a fit of passion.

Rihanna and Usher's storming of the charts this week might posed a threat to Beyonce, who continues to reign at No. 1 with the bouncy love ode "Love on Top" for the second consecutive week.

Nevertheless, we congratulate Rihanna and Usher for securing their latest top 10 hits.
