Rihanna Plays It Safe in White Dress, Rocks Statement Gold Necklace at Nude Fragrance Launch

Here's a rhetorical question. When Rihanna attends a launch event for a new fragrance named Nude, what would type of outfit would you expect her to turn up at the celebration wearing? Something super provocative and skin flashing, right? Wrong! The always sexy, loves-posing-topless 'Diamonds' singer played it safe in a sweet, demure white lace frock by Nini Nguyen (that has a flirty, see-through skirt) and Tom Ford black pumps at the event in California on Saturday (Dec. 1).

RiRi may have been understated with her darling dress, but she went for it with the jewelry. She accessorized with serious gold bling, a chunky vintage Christian Lacroix choker with two chains. Maybe it was a gift from 2Chainz? Nah.

Actually, some of her Navy members speculated that it might be a gift from Breezy. She shared a photo of herself wearing the bauble (and nothing else, so she was up to her old tricks again with that) on Instagram, which she captioned: "He told me 'you better not give it away.'" Was it Breezy who said that? Could be!

But we must say that RiRi looked both elegant and classy at her perfume launch. Those are not two words that often accompany her style. The sideswept waves also allowed her choker to take front and center stage.

She is trying to promote and sell a product, so dressing in a white frock with a tea-length hem and a sweet, corset like bodice with thick straps, which showed only a hint of cleavage, was the way to go. Overdoing it with the "I'm too sexy for my clothes" attitude could have turned a more casual shopper off. You can't always give it all away, if you catch our drift.
