Rob Lowe is a Belieber. Kind of.

The actor, himself a teen heartthrob in the 1980s who has enjoyed plenty of career ups and downs in the public eye, is not a screaming, shrieking Belieber, obviously. He clearly doesn't fit the teenage girl profile. Instead, the actor spoke to Oprah Winfrey about how he empathizes with Justin Bieber, since his fans aren't really all that interested in his music.

"I have tremendous empathy,” Lowe said. "He makes really good music, but I think he knows the dark secret, and the dark secret is 80 percent of his audience doesn’t give a s---t about the music. And he knows it. It bums him out."

Wow, Lowe thinks The Biebs' music is good? That's more shocking than the dark secret reveal.

But you know, Lowe has somewhat of a valid point. We are sure that there is a healthy amount of ladies in the Belieber Nation that love his music, but there is also a good-sized amount that is more interested in his looks and the idea of him than anything else.

Lowe further offered his opinion on Beliebers, saying, "They care about lemming-think, and their girlfriends and oohing and aahing and screaming, [and] it has nothing to do with what he’s doing as an artist. He is the guy who is standing in front at a moment that they’re going through a developmental thing… If it wasn’t him, it would be somebody else, like it was me."

Lowe has been there, so he gets it. While Beliebers and The Biebs himself may not like Lowe's assessment, since he is all about showing love to fans, the actor's comments come from a place of experience.
