Pop singer Robyn, currently in the midst of her own headlining tour, announced plans to open for Katy Perry on several of the 'California Gurl''s concerts this summer.

The industrious Swede, who released a critically acclaimed trilogy of 'BodyTalk' albums and embarked on two separate headlining tours last year, seems determined to keep up her busy pace during 2011. Based on press reviews for those shows, it seems Mrs. Perry will have her work cut out for her to match Robyn's intensity. The Huffington Post raved that Robyn's shows "could be one of the greatest performances I have ever seen by a solo artist. Robyn took the stage like an unleashed animal and was ready to entertain."

Yikes! Guess Perry better keep up that rigorous rehearsal schedule she was talking about last week. (link to that story) As long as nobody gets violent, the audience can only benefit from watching an evening filled with two talented pop divas working hard to out-do each other.

It's unclear as of this writing exactly which dates Perry and Robyn will be sharing; Marina and the Diamonds, a Welsh singer of Greek descent, will apparently be opening some of the dates instead of Robyn. We'll post the full schedule for each artist as soon as we figure it out.
