Comedian/actress Roseanne Barr made news over the weekend when she unloaded on the first couple of R&B and hip-hop. What started out as a tweet in support of the late Etta James turned into an attack on Jay-Z, Beyonce, and their fans, whom Roseanne labeled "drooling mutants."

The madness began on Friday, when news spread that James had died at age 73. Referencing the fact that President Obama had invited Beyonce to perform 'At Last,' one of James' signature songs, during his 2009 inaugural party, Barr tweeted, "I lost ALL respect for Obama when he dissed Etta James in favor of Beyonce. No respect for women at all, I thought - Etta was a hero 2 women."

She added, "I have not listened to anything Beyonce or Jay-Z has said or recorded since they did that to Etta. Their arrogance was disgusting."

Predictably, some Beyonce fans began sending Roseanne angry messages. Just as predictably, the outspoken comic fired back. In between tweets that declared her apparently serious intention to run for president in 2016 as the Green Party nominee, Barr sent a series of expletive-laden messages to individual users, then wrote, "Just finished telling all of Beyonce's cheesy stupid a-- fans who slammed me to go and f--- themselves! It was fun! ... Beyonce's fans are really ignorant - she should not be proud of entertaining drooling mutants!"

In another low blow, Roseanne wrote, "Sanjaya Gupte is a much better singer than Beyonce - and his hair looks real!" She got her point across, despite mixing up the names of former 'American Idol' contestant Sanjaya Malakar and CNN health analyst Dr. Sanjay Gupta.

It's true that Roseanne is a loudmouth, but she's also willing to admit when she's wrong. By Saturday, she had changed her tune, thanks in part to those Beyonce fans she had bashed: "I really want to thank all of Beyonce's intelligent and well spoken fans for sending me links of her singing -- I was wrong -- she is quite good!" On Sunday, she added, "I sincerely want 2 apologize 4 the rude comments I made 2 twitters defending the fabulously talented Beyonce. I reverted 2 stand up slams."
