Generations collided when Sara Bareilles and singer-songwriter Carole King paired up to perform a mashup of Bareilles' modern hit 'Brave' and King's classic 'Beautiful' at the 2014 Grammys (Jan. 26).

The ladies performed together, playing piano while facing each other and looking at one another with love and respect in their eyes. It reminded us of when Lady Gaga and Elton John did the same at the Grammys back in 2010.

Overall, though, it was as if these poignant songs from different eras were meant to be played together -- like they were waiting for one another in order to merge. Music is like that sometimes.

After they performed, the talented ladies gushed about one another, with Bareilles saying that she was honored to play with someone who inspired her, while King said that the future of music is in good hands with someone like Bareilles.

Can you say "Love Fest?" Because that's what it was. We lurved it.
