Pop singer Sara Bareilles will serve as a judge on Season 3 of NBC's 'The Sing-Off,' replacing Nicole Scherzinger, who is moving on to 'X Factor.'

Bareilles joins Ben Folds and Boyz II Men's Shawn Stockman on the judging panel. She welcomes the chance to judge a show where singers perform without any musical accompaniment.

"A cappella music is very near and dear to my heart, and I have been a huge fan of the show from the beginning," Bareilles says. "I love the opportunity to be a part of something that celebrates a genre of music that I just adore and believe in. I can't wait for it to start."

'The Sing-Off' offers vocal groups a chance to show off their voices. The competitions are short; Season 1 was just four episodes, while Season 2 was five episodes. Bareilles appeared on the finale of Season 2, so the show's audience is already familiar with her.

Paul Telegdy, NBC's executive vice president of alternative programming, implies that the show's judges are more qualified than those on other singing competition shows, because they're all excellent singers: "Simply put, they can do what the contestants are doing, and that means a lot. Sara will bring a sublime technical knowledge and huge appreciation for 'The Sing-Off.'"

Bareilles is known for her hits 'King of Anything' and 'Love Song,' the latter of which earned a Song of the Year Grammy nomination in 2009.
