Sarah Hyland and Matt Prokop Break Up After Five Years

It was an exciting night for the cast of 'Modern Family,' who scored an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series, but this morning news broke that Sarah Hyland split from her boyfriend of five years, Matt Prokop.

"Sarah's doing fine. It didn't work out," an insider told Us Weekly. "She's young. They decided they would be better off as friends."

E! News reports that another source said, "Sarah's doing fine. It didn't work out."

A rep confirmed the news. The actress, who walked the Emmys red carpet solo, met Prokop in 2008 when they both auditioned for 'High School Musical 3: Senior Year.' They later shared screen-time in Disney Channel's 2011 movie 'Geek Charming.'

During their relationship, the two lived together and even shared a dog, a 4-year-old Maltipoo named Barkley Bixby.

We're bummed to hear this sad news, but it sounds like both parties are handling the split with a mature and respectful outlook.
