Scarlett Johansson Says John Travolta Isn’t ‘Creepy’

One of the most buzz-worthy moments from the 2015 Oscars wasn't an acceptance speech or performance. Rather, it was a photo that surfaced of Scarlett Johansson appearing to look miffed as John Travolta embraced her on the red carpet.

To viewers of the photo, the actress comes off as being uncomfortable, which makes the actor's gestures appear all the more awkward. However, Scarlett released a statement to the Associated Press to clear up any rumors about the meeting.

"There is nothing strange, creepy or inappropriate about John Travolta," she said.

Furthermore, she went on to explain that what the photo appears to capture didn't reflect what actually happened on the Oscars red carpet.

"The image that is circulating is an unfortunate still-frame from a live-action encounter that was very sweet and totally welcome," Scarlett told the Associated Press. "That still photo does not reflect what preceded and followed if you see the moment live. Yet another way we are misguided, misinformed and sensationalized by the 24-hour news cycle. I haven't seen John in some years and it is always a pleasure to be greeted by him."

In the days following the Oscars and the photo's appearance on the internet, numerous memes have popped up making light of the situation. Even stars like Joe Jonas have chimed in, sharing Photoshopped images of themselves.

We're glad to hear that Scarlett clarified the situation and that there was nothing awry going on in photo.
