Scarlett Johansson is opening up about her views on marriage in Parade magazine, and in doing so, seems to have hinted at why her marriage to Ryan Reynolds didn't work out.

"Acting is a very strange world to be co-existing in. It's very volatile," she revealed to the magazine. "There's always going to be the more successful person. It's related to rejection. Because actors, if they’re not having success, connect it directly to unpopularity — to the fact that nobody wants them. It’s not necessarily true. I’m constantly rejected."

The Avengers: Age of Ultron actress and Ryan Reynolds were married for two years before calling things off in 2010. Johansson later went on to marry journalist Romain Dauriac, while Reynolds tied the knot with Blake Lively.

“[Marriage] takes a lot of work. It takes a man who's not only confident in the love that you have for one another, but confident in what he has going on in his own career," she added. "He has to be in a field that’s completely different from yours. My husband’s also involved in art. What’s important to him is the recognition that he gets from his job, and that has nothing to do with my job."

This is not the first time that the actress has openly spoken about her divorce from the hunky actor. In fact, she previously discussed what she learned from the split.

"I think I know myself better," she revealed back in April 2014. "I feel I know now more of what I need in a relationship, what I want in a relationship. And I know I have more tools to communicate, not just with my partner, but with myself. That’s not necessarily any reflection of who I was married to or what was happening in my marriage, but really where I was in my life."
