Scarlett Johansson is "scared" of facials.

The 38-year-old actress has struggled with acne in the past so she is wary about the products that go onto her skin, but she admitted she should rethink her stance as the people she knows with "amazing" complexions have the treatments regularly.

Speaking to Allure, she said: “I'm not a facial person. I am scared of them. I think because I had acne for so long, I was just terrified of anybody touching my face. I cannot tell you the last time I got a facial. I use masks on myself, but yeah, I'm not a facial person.

“I should probably get over that because I have friends that have amazing skin that get facials regularly. So maybe there's something to it.”

Scarlett also tries to stay away from foundation when she can because she's worried about it clogging her pores and making her break out.

She said: “I don't regularly wear foundation — I mean, for work, I do. But it changes. Sometimes I use the Dior Forever Foundation, sometimes it’s the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, but it depends on what I'm doing.

“Foundation, on film, performs differently depending on the lighting and how the film is going to be digitally processed, so my makeup artist is always doubling between a few different foundations. But I like both of those. The Armani foundation is nice, and it doesn't break me out.

“Again, because I've had acne, I'm always terrified that foundation is going to break me out, but now things are formulated in a way that they don't break you out like they used to. But I don't wear foundation every day. Sometimes I like that Touche Éclat Undereye Pen. It’s still good.”

The Black Widow star recently recalled how much she "struggled" with her skin when she was younger.

She told Stylist magazine: "I struggled with acne forever. My brother actually just showed me photos of myself at a family thing when I was probably 19 or 20, and my skin quality is completely different. When I saw that photo it just, you know, it brought everything back. All those painful memories. I just struggled with my skin for such a long time. I used to wear concealer to work in the morning, even though somebody was about to put make-up on my face.

"But that was when I was younger and the messaging around acne back then was that your skin was grimy and dirty, and you’d get rid of the blemishes by washing it. It was all so negative – and also incorrect."
