'American Idol' winner Scotty McCreery stopped by a Charlotte, N.C. radio station to discuss his experience on the show and whether he has gone on any shopping sprees since winning the singing competition. (Spoiler: He hasn't.)

McCreery said he hasn't splurged on any major purchases yet since he's started to earn his post-'Idol' paychecks. His biggest purchase? "I got a bunch of movies for the tour. I went out and bought a bunch of DVDs that I wouldn't have necessarily bought before, if I hadn't had the money. I haven't gone out and bought a gold chain, 24-carat or anything. I'm still eating off the dollar menu!"

Asked which of the three 'Idol' judges he most bonded with, McCreery replied, "I would have to say Jennifer Lopez. She is just a sweetheart, and we both share some Puerto Rican blood, so we just had some bonding time, good times together."

The 17-year-old says he intends to stick to recording country music for now, and that pursuing a movie career like some other singers isn't even on his radar: "Right now that's the plan. I don't know if I'll pull a Tim McGraw or not, but right now my plan is to stick to country."

McCreery's debut single 'I Love You This Big' continues to hold strong at No. 18 on the country singles chart, which has surprised the singer, who thought it would quickly fade after the news about his 'Idol' win died down. "It's done well ... I want to keep it out there as long as possible. It's crazy."

The North Carolina native added that the comforts from home he misses the most while touring are the little things, like sweet tea and Bojangles biscuits.
