Scotty McCreery performed a beautiful and faithful rendition of 'The First Noel' on the 'CMA Country Christmas' special, which aired this evening. The singer (and 'American Idol' winner) is an avowed Christian, so he infused the classic Christmas carol with his signature country twang and that down home, small town authenticity that propelled him to superstar status in just under a year.

Dressed in a black blazer, an eggplant purple button down shirt and dark jeans, which is essentially the Scotty McCreery uniform, Scotty was loyal and heartfelt. He has proven to be one of the most successful 'Idol' winners, right up there with Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. We can pretty much erase the 'American Idol' winner tag from McCreery's name at this point, since he has forged himself as nice career and one that looks like it has legs.

With fellow country superstars like Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles looking on, McCreery brought a dose of Southern-stewed Christmas cheer into our living rooms this evening. We welcomed him with open arms.
