Selena Gomez Is a Bicurious, Bewigged Flower Child in ‘Bad Liar’ Video — And She’s Got a ‘Fetish,’ Too
Just when you thought you'd seen the last of "Bad Liar" with that Petra Collins-directed, somewhat unnerving visual for Spotify, Selena Gomez has gone and given her Talking Heads-sampling summer single the full "film" treatment, directed by Jesse Peretz.
It's hard to say exactly what is happening in the retro clip, aside from the fact that SelGo is demonstrating the full breadth of acting ability — or, well, her wig collection at least.
She's a curious, not-so-popular high school flower child with a handsy father (played by herself) who's seemingly cheating on her mother (played by herself) by macking on the gym teacher (played by herself), who Selena's...secretly lusting after too? At the very least, there's some sort of sexually ambiguous, forbidden love twist to the whole thing. What's fantasy and what's reality?
Perhaps most importantly to Selenators, the last few frames are dedicated to what's coming next: "Fetish." Her new single, perhaps?
And don't worry: you can sport some groovy, '70's-themed "Bad Liar" merch that matches the video, too.
