Fresh off her gangsta hosting duty at the MTV Europe Music Awards, 19-year-old Selena Gomez is in talks to play another edgy role alongside James Franco in the forthcoming film 'Spring Breakers.'

The film will be helmed by Harmony Korine, known for dark material like 'Gummo,' 'Mr. Lonely,' 'Kids' and 'Trash Humpers' (which is about exactly what you'd assume). It would provide an interesting career turn for Gomez, who is known for squeaky clean PG fare like 'Monte Carlo,' 'Ramona and Beezus' and Disney's upcoming human-puppet flick 'The Muppets.'

Variety reports that Vanessa Hudgens and Emma Roberts also rumored to co-star with Gomez in the flick, in which the girls rob a restaurant to fund a trip to Florida for spring break. Franco will portray a drug dealer who bails the starlets out of jail. Roberts will play a Southern daredevil, while Gomez's part is said to be a religious girl.

It should be interesting to see Gomez expand her range in a flick that isn't so wholesome. With such a stellar cast behind her, she should be able to pull it off!
