Selena Gomez says her new album will be more mature and emotional, but also more of a party.

"I'm constantly changing, and it's fun being able to express that for my fans," Gomez tells MTV. "So this album is a huge rave; it really is. It's funky, it's different. I'm liking it."

The 18-year-old star acknowledges that she wants the album to sound more sophisticated as she attempts to move beyond her Disney Channel image. "It is very different and I'm growing up," she says. "It's a lot more mature."

The still-untitled record will be all Selena -- no collaborations are currently planned. Gomez is even featured as a co-writer on at least one of the new songs.

Gomez has already released one track from the album, 'Who Says,' a song with an empowering message about self-confidence, and she revealed that another track, 'Hit the Lights' -- which she loves -- will be a dance song about missed opportunities.

Last year's Selena Gomez & the Scene album 'A Year Without Rain' reached No. 4 and spawned two Top 40 hits.
