Shakira, Enrique Iglesias and Ricky Martin are among the top contenders for the 2011 Latin Grammy Awards, with Pitbull and Il Volo also securing multiple nominations.

The Latin Recording Academy announced the nominations this morning (Sept. 14). Album of the Year features Shakira's 'Sale El Sol' and Iglesias' 'Euphoria' competing against albums by international artists Franco De Vita, Calle 13, and Alex, Jorge y Lena. 'Sale El Sol' produced one moderate hit on the US pop charts, while 'Euphoria' has spawned three blockbuster singles and will soon be re-issued with additional tracks.

Ricky Martin is up for both Record and Song of the Year for 'Lo Mejor De Mi Vida Eres Tu,' a track from his album 'Musica + Alma + Sexo.' Italian trio Il Volo, whose popularity in America soared after their 'American Idol' appearance, picked nods for Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album by a Duo or Group for 'Edicion En Español.'

Cuban-American rapper Pitbull has earned a number of hits from his latest album, 'Planet Pit,' but he is nominated here for an earlier Spanish-language release, 'Armando,' which vies for Best Urban Music Album, while one of its tracks, 'Bon Bon,' is up for Best Urban Song.

The big winners could end up being Puerto Rican hip-hoppers Calle 13, who nabbed a record 10 nominations. The 12th Annual Latin Grammy Awards air live from Las Vegas at 8PM EST on Univision on Nov. 10.
