Shawn Mendes apparently slipped into James Charles' DMs on Thursday (October 4) to apologize for a misunderstanding.

It all started when Mendes allegedly told fans during a secret album listening party, "That dude [James Charles] is always commenting weird s--- on my posts."

The pop artist was reportedly made uncomfortable by a number of forward comments Charles had left on Mendes' Instagram account, including one that asked during a live stream, "Can you juggle me like that?"

Getting wind of Mendes' discomfort, the YouTube beauty vlogger publicly apologized to the artist on Twitter, writing, "My comments on friend’s & boy’s [sic] content have always been light hearted & in a joking manner. I’ve been supporting @shawnmendes since vine & am a fan like anyone else, & would never want to make anyone uncomfortable. Im upset, embarrassed, and sorry if he felt sexually harassed."

Seeing Charles' tweet, Mendes apparently reached out privately to clear the air, denying he had ever said anything negative about the YouTuber.

"Sorry about all this, i've never said i don't like you or that you make me uncomfortable," Mendes wrote in a direct message.

"Your comments actually make me laugh and i love them," he added in the message, which Charles took a screen-shot of and shared on his account.

Earlier this year, Charles was met with backlash after calling Ariana Grande the "rudest celebrity" for unfollowing him on social media.
