Rising artist and social media star Shawn Mendes appeared on 'Ellen' last week to perform an acoustic version of his breakout hit, 'Life of the Party.'

Mendes was one of the first celebrities born from the popular social media app, Vine where he recorded six second video clips of him covering popular songs. The 16-year-old star built his own fan following from the ground up, and to date he has over 3 million followers on Vine. He was signed to Island Def Jam Records earlier this year, and with the release of 'Life of the Party,' he earned the distinction of being the youngest artist to debut in the Top 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.

'Life of the Party' can be found on his self-titled debut EP which was released on July 28.

After performing 'Life of the Party,' Mendes and Ellen DeGeneres surprised two of his fans with tickets to the iHeartRadio Music Festival, which was held in Las Vegas this past weekend. The two girls were speechless when they got a chance to hug Mendes, but became overwhelmed with excitement upon hearing that they won a free trip to hear some of music's biggest stars in Vegas.
