Shawn Mendes just turned 18 on August 8. And what better way to celebrate the milestone than with a very liberating, feel-the-rain-on-your-skin shirtless photo shoot for his upcoming track, "Mercy"?

The "Treat You Better" pop prince is in the process of teasing "Mercy," a new track due out on August 18 from his forthcoming sophomore LP, Illuminate.

And to do so, the Wilhelmina Models signed act is stripping down and getting wet in a series of promo photos that bear a resemblance to Nick Jonas' Last Year Was Complicated promo art, along with the teeniest tease of the upcoming track in video form. (That's one way to tide a thirsty fanbase over.)

"Been waiting for this song to come out for so long!" he wrote on Twitter. "Dont think ive ever been this excited for a song release."

Illuminate arrives on September 23. Check out more of Shawn making a shirtless splash below.
