Shawn Mendes vs. Cameron Dallas – Prom King of 2016 [First Round]

Spring has officially hit (at least here in the U.S.), which means preparation for all things prom has begun. And with that comes the important crowning of this year's Prom King and Queen of 2016 -- a decision that won't come easy.

After weeks of voting with increasingly close results, Harry Styles and Ariana Grande took home their respective crowns last year, thanks to their fervent fanbases. This year will prove just as difficult a race, as we've picked a new batch of Hollywood stars for fans to vote on. Welcome to Round 1, which sees Shawn Mendes and Cameron Dallas facing off for the ultimate title of Prom King.

Shawn Mendes managed to turn his Vine popularity into a lucrative music career. His hit single "Stitches" took off on radio across the U.S., and he eventually landed the opening slot on Taylor Swift's 1989 tour. Not bad for a 17-year-old with only one album out.

Cameron Dallas also got his start on Vine. Fans were drawn to his sense of humor, displayed via jokes and pranks he’d play on family and friends and later upload to the mini-movie app. He’s gone on to appear alongside fellow Internet personality Nash Grier in the 2015 movie The Outfield, and Dallas also had a role on two episodes of the TV show American Odyssey.

Both Shawn and Cameron found success on Vine, but which will move on to Round 2?
