Is Cheryl Fernandez-Versini the heir to the X Factor throne? We're not sure yet, but either way, the show's feared emperor, Simon Cowell, appears to have a new kingdom to conquer.

Cowell, who's created a business out of making dreams come true (while swiftly killing others) will replace Howard Stern on the forthcoming eleventh season of America's Got Talent, according to Us WeeklyStern stepped down from the judge's table in September, noting he wouldn't be able to balance the show, his radio program and an additional TV project.

"We've been talking about it for a few years, funny enough, me and NBC," Cowell told this site. "This year...everything worked. So it was perfect."

Cowell has previously served as a judge on Britain's Got Talent, American Idol and is currently a judge on the twelfth season of the United Kingdom's X Factor. He last appeared as a judge in the United States on the third and final season of X Factor in 2013.

And in case you had concerns that becoming a father last year has softened the brutally honest Cowell, rest assured, his tongue is still razor-sharp.

"I'm not going to lie to people when I think they're hopeless, I just couldn't do that!" he said.
