What would the world of EDM sound like right now without Skrillex? We might never have heard his trademark dubstep wobble if his former emo band had been more successful.

The Grammy-hoarding EDM star used to perform under his birth name, Sonny Moore, as a vocalist for From First to Last, who released a couple of mildly successful albums during Moore's tenure from 2004 to 2007.

When Moore left the band, he didn't jump into EDM right away, instead releasing a rock-sounding digital EP and issuing a video for the fantastically emo track 'Mora.'

Finally, in 2010, Moore turned to the turntable and reinvented himself with the album / proclamation 'My Name Is Skrillex.' More studio albums followed, and in seemingly record time, he was opening for deadmau5, lighting up the iTunes charts, and recording music for Disney soundtracks. Few artists have reinvented themselves as quickly and successfully as Skrillex.
