Sky Ferreira Is Goth + Girly in Two Different Magazines
We were barely done gawking at her Forever 21 Festival 2013 capsule collection campaign photos when new images of waifish pop starlet Sky Ferreira have found their way in front of our eyes, portraying the seductive, Lolita-like singer in two very different ways.
She’s like the new Lana Del Rey — a singer who is more celebrated for her looks and ability to effectively model clothes in magazines and for retailers than for her music.
She covers S Moda magazine, looking like the latest, millennial incarnation of Kate Moss, draped in a black leather jacket, with wild, white blonde hair and lips stained in a berry, Bordeaux-like hue. Ferreira looks like a rough and tumble, gothy china doll.
She also appears in AnOther magazine, swirled in soft, prismatic shades, like pale pink and sky blue, and largely naked. There’s a lot of NSFW images, where she flashes the headlights, but we didn’t include those. They are tastefully done, but they are still NSFW. You can clearly tell which shots were from which shoot.
Ferreira is softer and prettier in the pastel shots, and not just because she is clothes-free, wearing only accessories and a sheath. There’s something intimate and vulnerable about her in these particular images. We’re not used to seeing that and Ferreira doesn’t really project accessibility. The gothy, leather clad photos are more familiar when it comes to Ferreira and her styling.
She’s like a blonde Victoria Beckam, preferring a scowl to a smile. Ferreira is perpetually moody and pouty, but there’s something so mysterious about her.
