Stacy Francis closed out the performances for the 12 finalists tonight on 'X Factor,' and the 42-year-old single mom blew away her spectators with a powerful rendition of 'Up to the Mountain (MLK Song).' The song, which was originally recorded by Patty Griffin and has been covered by artists like Kelly Clarkson, was the perfect choice for Francis.

Standing on top of a raised platform, Francis wore a sparkly gown and was illuminated by a backdrop of flickering candles as she gave the folk song her own gospel twist. Francis showed off her vocal range, hitting big strong beautiful notes as well as deep notes that as Paula Abdul said "filled up" the auditorium. Francis might scream a bit at times, but in the end, she pulled off the performance and definitely showed great promise for a career in gospel music.

After Francis' epic live show, L.A. Reid told her, "You're getting better and better. You stir those souls when you sing." Paula Abdul added, "You were the shining moment tonight." Simon Cowell took credit for Francis' improvement since last week's episode, since he told her to stick to church tunes. Of course, Cowell went up on stage and accepted a kiss on the cheek from Francis as thanks.

After all of the controversy surrounding Ms. Francis this past week, it's nice to see her doing well again. Do you think America will vote Stacy Francis through to the next round? Tune in next to week to see!
