Wild card Stefano Langone chose to perform Ne-Yo's R&B hit 'Closer' last night, but unfortunately, Langone's stint on 'American Idol' has come to a close. The singer, who showed flashes of vocal brilliance along with some Broadway-style touches, was voted off the show on this evening's elimination episode.

It wasn't that much of a shock, since Langone has been in the bottom three for the past few episodes, so it became more and more evident that Langone was reaching the end of the road, which, ironically, he performed on the "Songs-From-Movies" episode a few weeks ago!

Langone put on a brave face despite receiving the bad news. He didn't take his elimination as a blow to his ego or to his future, saying that his 'Idol' experience was invaluable. Langone told host Ryan Seacrest, "I started my career and you can't put a price on it. I am so blessed to have come this far."

Langone capped off his 'Idol' run with Stevie Wonder's 'Lately,' reminding us why the judges selected him as a wild card in the first place.

We'll miss you, Stefano Langone.

And then there were six.

Next week, the remaining half-dozen contestants will be tackling the songs of Carole King. Influential pop singer Bruno Mars will be performing on the elimination episode, as well. Tune in next week!
