Stephen Colbert just got back from a "secret" trip to Russia, where he taped material for an upcoming set of Late Shows. While there, he appeared on a talk show and, as he put it, "accidentally made some news on purpose." What news? "I am considering a run for president in 2020, and I thought it would be better to cut out the middleman and just tell the Russians myself," he told his host, Ivan Urgant.

So yeah, there's no doubt this whole Russia excursion -- which Colbert himself leaked on his Twitter account -- is gonna provide major fodder for his favorite target, President Trump, who remains embroiled in controversy over his 2016 campaign's possible ties to Russia. "To be clear, all I said in the clip there is that I was considering a run," Colbert told his audience. "If I decide to run, obviously I’m not going to ask the Russians to help my campaign. I’d have my son-in-law ask them."

Trump may want everyone to stop talking about all this Russia-Trump FAKE NEWS, but we're certainly looking forward to seeing whatever it is Colbert found at St. Petersburg's Winter Palace -- "or as they call it, Tsar-a-Lago."

In other Trump-related news, the president recently admitted he has no incriminating tapes of his meeting with former FBI Director James Comey. When asked about it by a Fox News representative, Trump gave what Seth Meyers called "the most rambling, nonsensical answer I think I've ever seen." We'll transcribe it here, because it works almost as well when you read it, but you absolutely must listen to the man himself expunge this word salad of confused clauses:

Well, I didn't tape him. You never know what's happening when you see what the Obama administration and perhaps longer than that was doing all of this unmasking and surveillance that you read all about it, and I've been reading about it for the last couple of months, about the seriousness of the -- and horrible situation with surveillance all over the place, and you've been hearing the word 'unmasking,' a word you probably never heard before. So you never know what's out there. But I didn't tape, and I don't have any tape, and I didn't tape.

Yeah. It's special. Miss Teen South Carolina 2007 Caitlin Upton would be proud.

On The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon played a round of Name That Song with Pharrell Williams. Fallon does pretty well for himself here, considering he's facing off against a guy who's won 11 Grammys and probably has an encyclopedic knowledge of music. Bieber fans may be a bit disappointed in both of them, though.
