T.I. was once one of Iggy Azalea's most fervent defenders, but after a series of public missteps on Iggy's part -- which, more often than not, involved a defensive approach to some valid criticism flung at her, usually communicated via social media -- T.I. just doesn't have it in him anymore.

During an interview with Hot 97's Ebro in the Morning, T.I. admitted that he hasn't spoken to Iggy in a while. He starts off saying, "In her defense, she had a lot thrown at her at one time. Any human being anywhere would have a hard time."

But then he continued, making the point that Iggy took the wrong approach to hitting back at her naysayers despite advice T.I. gave her. He said, "She was a little reckless with her comments. She had a hard time properly directing her energy to the right source. She kinda just shotgun-sprayed everything."

Referring to the accusations of cultural appropriation Iggy's come under fire for numerous times in her career already, T.I. said that the timing for her -- a white, Australian rapper in a predominantly black genre -- might have been all wrong, too. He said, "It’s very difficult to be the new kid and to be the butt of the jokes and to be directed with all the negativity. It came at a time when, culturally in this nation, which she’s not from here, we were actually looking for a source for somewhere to place some pent-up aggression, and they just kind of got it for no reason...some stuff they brought upon themselves."

But, says T.I., perhaps not all hope he lost. He said, "I really do feel that [Iggy's team] just needed a little more time to adjust, which I feel they can do. They have the talent, they have the charisma."

When asked why T.I. continually referred to Iggy as "they" and not "she," he explained that he was referring to her team. He said, "The world of Iggy Azalea. She is the nucleus, but there are a lot of other pieces around...They have all the tools necessary to overcome and evolve beyond those situations."
