Forthright diva Adele found commercial and critical success with her powerhouse voice, deeply personal but relatable lyrics and enthralling brand of British blue-eyed soul. Born Adele Laurie Blue Adkins in 1988 in North London, she was influenced by artists ranging from Ella Fitzgerald to the Spice Girls. Discovered through a demo posted to Myspace in 2006, the singer-songwriter broke stateside with her 2008 hit ‘Chasing Pavements.’ Her smash sophomore album, 2011’s ’21,’ dominated the airwaves with its signature hits ‘Rolling in the Deep’ and ‘Someone Like You’ and helped Adele sweep the Grammys in 2012. A years-long haitus followed a 2011 surgery on her vocal cords and the birth of her son in 2012. That same year, she released the Bond theme ‘Skyfall,’ a massive worldwide hit that won both an Oscar and a Golden Globe.
