The death of Beastie Boys rapper Adam Yauch, affectionately and widely known as MCA, shocked and saddened the world yesterday (May 4). While much of the music community was disheartened by the loss, two rappers in particular, Eminem and Nas, were especially affected.

It is with a heavy heart that we report Beastie Boys member MCA -- born Adam Yauch -- has died. Yauch, who has battled cancer since 2009, was just 47 years old.

It seems like just yesterday that they were urging us to fight for our right to party. Now -- as of this morning (Dec. 7), in fact -- the Beastie Boys are among the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's latest inductees.

He's best known as the King Ad-Rock, one-third of the Beastie Boys, but Adam Horovitz is also the son of playwright and screenwriter Israel Horovitz -- and he'll reportedly team up with his dad for an upcoming off-Broadway play.

The Beastie Boys will transmogrify into action figures -- read: Not dolls -- in the forthcoming video for 'Don't Play No Game That I Can't Win' video. It will be directed by their esteemed colleague Spike Jonze, who shot 'Sabotage,' which is one of the Boys' most famous and best recognized videos.
