Casey Abrams made a bold choice on 'American Idol' last night. He originally elected to perform Nat King Cole's 'Nature Boy,' which appeared in the musical 'Moulin Rouge.' Then on the advice of mentor Jimmy Iovine, he changed his mind and was planning to attempt Phil Collins' 'In the Air Tonight.' Abrams ultimately flipped again and went with the slow-burning, intimate and controlled Nat King Cole song, accompanied by his stand up bass and a piano. While Iovine disagreed with Abrams' move, the singer's instincts turned out to be right.
'American Idol' contestant Casey Abrams cut his hair, trimmed his bead and offered up one hell of a rebound performance this week during Elton John week. After two sub-par weeks of performances -- namely last week, where he ended up being last in the voting and stealing the season's only save from the judges -- Abrams proved that he was worth the save and the judge's faith with his lilting rendition of 'Your Song.'
Casey Abrams is safe, even after receiving the least amount of votes on 'American Idol' this week! The judges didn't even make Abrams finish his redemption song on tonight's elimination episode. Instead, they stopped him cold midway through 'I Don't Need No Doctor' and announced they were going to give the fuzzy-haired and bearded vocalist their only save of the season.
'American Idol' contestant Casey Abrams may have been battling health issues during the heat of the competition, but the shaggy haired and bushy bearded singer and multi-instrumentalist keeps his spirits and sense of humor up.
Judge Jennifer Lopez referred to Abrams as "sexy," but he only has eyes, er, compliments for Randy Jackson. In a quick chat with Showbiz Shelly, Abrams says, "Randy is definitely the sexiest -- the way he plays that bass and is all 'Dawg!'"
Casey Abrams, the stand up bass-playing, bearded and bushy-haired Seth Rogen lookalike called "sexy" by Jennifer Lopez on 'American Idol,' was hospitalized, missing Thursday night's show. This was the second time that Abrams has been admitted to the hospital during the course of the competition.
During the show's opening, host Ryan Seacrest said, "You'll notice that Casey is missing from the group. He is unfortunately sick and in the hospital right now. We know you're watching buddy, feel better – shout out to the nurses. Get back here soon, okay?"
