Sun-kissed Aussie teen idol Cody Simpson was discovered much the same way as future tour partner Justin Bieber: from videos he posted on YouTube showing himself singing. Born in 1997 in Queensland, Australia, Cody started taking guitar lessons at the age of 7. He set aside a promising future in competitive swimming to pursue a full-time music career. The decision also meant being uprooted from Down Under, and he moved to Los Angeles. His signing with Atlantic Records in 2010 led to the release of his debut single, 'iYiYi,' featuring Flo Rida. His breakthrough stateside single was 'On My Mind' from his 2011 EP 'Coast to Coast.' Simpson’s many TV appearances include a several-week stint on the 18th season of 'Dancing With the Stars.'
