Gym Class Heroes
Gym Class Heroes were invited to film a VH1 Unplugged special last month, which was a cool honor, but one that also presented some logistical problems for the band, given that all six of their hit singles to date feature guest artists singing the hook. How would they perform those songs live? Enter Patrick Stump, the former Fall Out Boy frontman and early GCH producer, who stepped in for Adam Levine on the unplugged version of 'Stereo Hearts.'
This week, the Top 20 Songs airing on our weekend radio show are a mix of older and newer jams. Both Matchbox 20 -- we are so pumped to hear them on the radio again -- and Gym Class Heroes are making debuts on PopCrush's Top 20 Songs countdown, with their latest singles 'She's So Mean' and 'The Fighter' coming in at No. 18 and No. 20, respectively. Meanwhile, Carly Rae Jepsen holds on to the No. 1 position, while One Direction, Maroon 5, Gotye and fun. keep up their Top 5 reign.
Gym Class Heroes' video for 'The Fighter' has our vote for Feel Good Video of the Year. The clip features not only the band performing alongside Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, but there is footage of Olympic hopeful and 19-year-old Bronx-born, Puerto Rican gymnast John Orozco. He declares "I'm a fighter" at the very beginning. He means fighter in the figurative sense; he's not a boxer!
First off, we'd like to congratulate the Wanted, whose new song 'Chasing the Sun' won in the latest About to Pop competition. This Saturday and Sunday (May 19 and 20), fans will get to hear the quintet's second U.S. single blasting through their speakers on PopCrush's weekly radio show. Now, the time has come for five fresh songs to battle it out in this week's About to Pop challenge, with singles from Gym Class Heroes and pop newcomer Bean making the cut.
