John Legend

R&B singer-songwriter John Legend showcases his smooth vocal stylings and piano skills on his own Grammy-winning hits as well as those of his many collaborators. Born John Roger Stephens in 1978 in Ohio, he began playing piano and performing in church choirs in early childhood. While still in college in Pennsylvania, he had his first professional gig, playing piano on Lauryn Hill’s 'Everything Is Everything.' After performing shows around the Northeast and releasing his music independently, he was signed to Kanye West’s record label. His debut studio album, ‘Get Lifted’ with single ‘Ordinary People,’ dropped in 2004. Collaborations with dozens of artists including West and Alicia Keys followed, as did multiple Grammys and the Starlight Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame. His ultra-romantic ‘All of Me’ became a mega-hit in 2014.
